How to Prepare your Garden for Spring
Everyone loves spring; there is a fresh expectation of beauty returning to your garden once again. Best Buy in Town is here to help ensure that your garden will look fantastic with the changing season. Here are five practical steps to prepare your garden for spring:
1. Clean up the garden (remove leaves, branches, pine cones, and larger rocks).
2. Remove dead plants and trim dormant plants close to the ground.
3. Cover bare soil with 3-6 inches of our organic compost (either our garden compost or a blend of garden compost with mushroom compost) to infuse your soil with extra nutrients and to cultivate greater growth potential. Besides introducing macro and micro nutrients, our compost will slowly feed, lightly fertilize, and invigorate the soil in preparation for the planting of your spring garden.
4. About six weeks before planting, lightly mix the nutritious compost into the top 2-3 inches of the soil, and allow the microbial action of the compost to fill the soil with fresh nutrients and to increase the drainage of the soil.
5. Six weeks later, plant your flowers, fruits, or vegetables of choice. Water them regularly, and sit back and enjoy the miraculous growth of your gorgeous garden!
