Portland Home and Garden Shows
January is a great month. There’s so much to look forward to, you have a fresh start, and it’s an opportunity to plan ahead. If you love going to Home & Garden Shows and taking home tours, you are going to want to get your calendar ready.
Going to home and garden shows are so much fun because you walk away with so many project ideas and inspiration.Here are some of our favorite shows that you should consider attending.
The Portland Renovation and Landscaping Show is happening February 6-8 at the Portland Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. There are workshops dedicated to building your own mini-trellis and remodeling your kitchen.
The Portland Spring Home & Garden Show (February 19-22) is one of the biggest shows in the Portland Metro area. This is the 68th annual show and the time first there will be an excellence in Landscaping area, dedicated to garden designs, lighting features and plant information. You’ll also be able to find out about color trends and rock gardens. You will definitely walk away with great ideas. If you miss the Spring show, there is a Fall show that happens in early October.
The Irvington Home Tour is the longest continuously running neighborhood home tour in Portland with the first Irvington Home Tour being held in 1967. It is traditionally held on the third Sunday of May.
Irvington was designated a National Register listed Historic District in 2010, making it the largest Historic District in Oregon. The Irvington Home tour give you an opportunity to go inside a few of the 2800 homes that make up this Historic District. Mark your calendars for early April. That’s when tickets are expected to go on sale. The Irvington Home Tour is capped at 1,000 tickets and they do tend to sell out quickly.
Another big home and garden show in Portland is the Yard, Garden & Patio Show (February 27 – March 1 2015), held at the Oregon Convention Center. This show boasts over 250 different exhibits and vendors ranging from the Urban Edible Garden to Outdoor Cooking Classes. There is also a Remarkable Green Market if you’re looking for a particular hard-to-find plant and OSU Master Gardeners will be there to answer questions and help you find the right plants for your space.
The Architectural Heritage Center conducts walking tours of “historic and architecturally significant neighborhoods” around Portland. During May – August, you can join Thursday evening tours and some weekend tours.
